HELMSLEY North Yorkshire

We have stayed here with our dog on 2 occasions and once without dare I say ! . A beautiful hotel and spa with swimming pool and Spa with wooden hot tub. It is in a beautiful market town in North Yorkshire. A super drive through the Yorkshire moors..

Which room ? – They have 29 rooms , most dog friendly , we chose no 2 and no 26 both rooms are mini suites with log burner and beautiful furniture , huge beds and luxurious cushions , throws and curtains, Our Pointer Dog loved it . The rooms overlook the outdoor pool . The Pointer Dog would have loved a dip so we kept him on his lead to prevent incident ! He was very content to lie by the sun loungers when the weather allowed. I went for a massage in the spa which was fabulous while Mr C sat and read and enjoyed the peace of the place while remaining in charge of the pooch. treatments are wonderful in a lovely spa space, very relaxing after a busy few weeks.

We spent one evening in our suite watching DVD’s ( selection supplied ) and lit the fire with a bottle of Champagne on ice – Bliss

Access all Areas ? – Dogs are allowed in the very cosy bar ,which has large sofas and newspapers to while away an afternoon. they have THE best Gin Collection too .. waiter service and great attention to detail . They are also allowed around the pool area to sit by your sun lounger should you wish to relax outdoors.

Outside the boundaries of the hotel there are many places in the area to eat , from bakeries to restaurants and everything in between , The Cleveland Way starts right in Helmsley, It is 109 miles long , so do take care to plan when to make the return to The Hotel. Just around the corner,( less than 5 minutes walk) from the hotel is a market square with some lovely little shops selling quirky items and there is a fabulous dress shop in the square that sells some amazing items of clothing . Helmsley is a place of natural beauty and has shooting grounds nearby , The hotel can organise shooting trips and can store your gun in their secure gun cabinet.

Whats in it for the Humans ? – Well where to start ? the food at The Feversham is fabulous , the restaurant is beautiful and if your dog is happy to stay in the room , (quietly ! ) you can go and enjoy a long lunch or romantic dinner while your dog sleeps off his long walks and adventures of the day. Breakfast is also fabulous . You certainly will never go hungry in this part of the world ! Spa treatments and the outdoor pool , what’s not to like ..

Packing List ? – The hotel provides robes and slippers if using the Spa , If walking in winter or rain pack light clothes to peel off along the way if you get hot , good walking boots for you and and dog towels for your pooch to dry them off after long muddy and wet walks or swimming in order to respect the hotel. Dinner is informal but possibly smart casual .. Field Coat for those off on a shooting trip .
